Virtual birthday party

This post is dedicated to all the children with birthdays in the next coming weeks.
Your friends might not be in the same room as you but that doesn't mean you can't have as much fun.
Here are some ideas to help you plan a virtual party.

Few days before the party:

- Get your child to think about the theme he wants for his birthday party. Get him/her to design his own invitation, that should keep him/her busy for some time.

Here are some downloads that might help you to get started:

Once the invitation is done, take a picture and send it via email to your child's friends along with the details of the when and on which platform the party is going to be. Zoom, Skype or House Party (max number 8) are some of the ones we have tried.
You can add details of some of the games they will be playing so they are aware.

On the day of the party:

- Get the room decorations on.
- Get dressed up. Follow the theme of the party or just go wild.
- send a reminder of the party and get the screen ready for the party. Laptop or TV works better than phones as you can see all the people rather than on the phone when you just see the person who is talking.
- you might want to send them a template for a party hat or crown that the kids can do before the party start. Here are a couple of free templates.

For the party:

Here are some games you can play:

- Musical statues
- Guess who I am? one of them picks a character and the others have to ask him/her questions to find out who the character is.
-  Charades- write on a piece of paper things, animals or characters and in turns they need to act it out. Remember if you are showing the paper to one child all others must look away.
- what's the missing object? Gather few items on a tray (about 10 things). Give everyone a few seconds to memorize them. Ask everyone to close their eyes. You remove two or three objects and then ask them what objects have disappeared.

End the party with the cake and everyone singing happy birthday to the birthday boy or girl. Remember to take some pictures while the party is one, this one is going to be a party they won't forget.
